Gatton All Bike Swap Meet

The Gatton All Bike Swap Meet was held at the Gatton Showgrounds on October 26 and 27, 2012. The members of the Historic Motor Cycle Club QLD  Toowooba Branch, once again organised and ran a great event. For $10 you could purchase a site for 2 days, overnight camping with onsite catering, powered sites and hot showers. Also for this year a musician played guitar and sang beside the food outlet to provide very enjoyable background music for those seated in the shaded eating area. Friday morning started off slowly but traders and buyers rolled in all day and filled the grounds, so much so infact that by Saturday morning traders were spilling out into the infield of the speedway track.

If you want to find a used part for a motorcycle you are restoring, buy a new part, find other enthusiasts to ask advice from, view restored or unrestored machines to get ideas or purchase your next project, you need to visit the Gatton All Bike Swap Meet. Motorcycles, bicycles, parts, accessories and relevant tools from 1900 up and from all parts of the world were to be found on the site. The range of machines presented has changed over the last 25 years from mostly British,  to alot of US bikes, to these days a large number of Japanese bikes, both road and dirt models.

BFM are regulars at the Gatton All Bike Swap Meet and attended this year’s event to presented a trade display for our marketing partners showing a range of parts available from S&S Cycle, Flat Head Power and CRANE. We displayed our restored 1942 U-Model 1200cc / 74cubic inch side valve Big Twin Harley – Davidson, which we purchased unrestored in 1982 from Townsville motorcycle enthusiast, Bob Illingsworth. Flat Head Power make a complete replacement top end for these motors and a replacement kicker cover for the transmission. It was great to catch up with several members of the Townsville Motorcycle Restorers Club who travelled down for this event including Barry Graham, Hedley Cook and Geoff Henspeter. We also caught up with friends from NSW and Victoria.
